50th Anniversary
Celebration
and Reunion

Meadowdale
International
Raceways
September 13-14, 2008
Raceway Woods, Carpentersville, Illinois
FREE ADMISSION!
Open to all who raced, worked or watched at Meadowdale Raceway.  Or wish they had.
See the cars and meet drivers who raced here when the track was active, 1958 to 1969.

See videos and photo displays of many of the era's most famous racers and their cars.

Speakers who raced here tell what that was like and other figures in Raceway Woods'        history explain the ups and downs of the track, how the property was saved as              Open Space, and future plans for it.

Meadowdale Raceway opened September 13-14, 1958, aiming to become a world-class auto racing facility.  Its 3.27 mile course included a 4,000 foot main straight, one of the longest in the country at the time.  It hosted national championship sports car racing, stock cars, motorcycles, and go-karts, even snowmobiles in the winter!  Most of the famous racers in the US raced here at one time or another.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first race at this fabulous track, we are bringing together cars and drivers who raced here.  Other significant people in Meadowdale's history will be present as well.  There will be hayrack rides around most of the course and other fun for kids and adults.  All this is to honor the venue and all those who worked at it and raced on it. (Sorry, due to the deteriorated condition of the track and the suburbia that has grown up around it, there can be no racing now.)

The fight to save the Meadowdale silo, an important Fox Valley landmark, and its restoration  will be celebrated with the unveiling of a plaque honoring the citizens and organizations that contributed to its restoration.

Displays to show the history of the Raceway Woods property before it was Meadowdale Raceway will also be part of the exhibits.

WANT TO BE PART OF THE SHOW?  This is an invitation to all drivers and race staff who ran Meadowdale to come out for the reunion.  You'll have special badging to identify you, and you can be as prominent or reticent as you wish.  You may see guys and gals you've not seen for years.

If you have a sports car or other vehicle (motorcycle, drag racer, stock car, sprint, midget, kart or ?) that raced, or could have raced, at MIR, bring it out to display.  No display fee!  Only 1969 and earlier, and race prepared, please.

The "Spectator Car" display area will be devoted to '50s and '60s street sports cars, hot rods, customs, bikes, and other neat and clean rides.  Again, only pre-1970, please.  These will be non-judged exhibitions.  All participants will receive a nice momento.  Again, it is FREE to display.

We will also provide FREE booth space to historical groups, service clubs, auto clubs and other informational displays with a connection to Raceway Woods or Meadowdale Raceway.
